The Augustana students in my Montana J class are here now and love every minute of their Montana experience.
The course they are taking is titled “Land, People, Culture”. It relates to many student learning outcomes at Augustana, including the following two points:
• The course contributes to intercultural competence by drawing extensively on insights that may be gained through learning about Native American cultures and interacting with members of the confederate Salish and Kootenay tribes.
• The course contributes to ethical citizenship by (a) encouraging students to think about caring for creativity, with a special focus on caring for forest lands and reducing the environmental impact of our lifestyles by living simpler lifestyles, and (b) making students…
