The Children’s Hour Launches New Podcast Series

ALBUQUERK, NM, Jan. 3, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Children’s Hour, the award-winning, globally syndicated Kids Public Radio program, has launched a new podcast series called “A Brief History of the American Southwest for Kids.” The six-episode, 20-minute podcast series comes with a Learn Along guide that meets and cites National Education Standards. The series covers 23,000 years of history and provides multiple resources for educators, students, and families. The podcast series is geared towards children in grades three through twelve and provides students with the opportunity to learn about the latest research on the settlement timeline of the southwestern United States.
“The history of New Mexico and the Southwest predates the arrival of the Pilgrims in America,” explained Katie Stone, founder and CEO of Children’s Hour. “This important history is not being taught nationally. It bothered me so much, I decided to create resources so that everyone, anywhere could learn it.”
The series was produced from six virtual field trips in New Mexico – White Sands National Park, Chaco Canyon Cultural Park, A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Cultural Center, Los Luceros Historic Site, and two field trips “in time” to the Pueblo Revolution and exploration of nationalization .
