RAPID CITY, SD– After a two-year hiatus, one of the biggest events in Rapid City returns this October.
Here are five things to know about the Black Hills Powwow:
1. The event attracts thousands
The Black Hills Powwow will be held at the Monument on October 7, 8 and 9 of this year and will feature performers from across the country and even Canada. The Black Hills Powwow is one of the best known events in the country. Last held in 2019, the event drew more than 4,500 out-of-town attendees to Rapid City and generated more than $4,000,000 in revenue.
2. What to know about the competitions
Vendors will be located at Barnett Field for the Art and Information Trade Fair, which will be free to the public. Performances will take place this year at the new Summit Arena, which first opened in 2021. Competitions will include men’s, women’s and children’s categories for the different dance events, and will also host a singing competition. Event winners will be announced on Sunday.
3. Officials excited to bring the event back
