WASHINGTON, DC — A key congressional committee finally got down to business this week, nearly a month after the Republicans took control of the party. The Congress. the House Committee on Natural Resourceswhich has jurisdiction over Indian states’ cases, will host the organizational meeting Wednesday. It is the first meeting of the Legislative Committee since the inception of Conference 118 January 3rd But even though the commission is under Republican leadership for the first time in five years, the tribes and their supporters will see many familiar faces when they come to Capitol Hill to ensure that the United States government lives up to its trust and treaty obligations. The new boss is Rep. Bruce Westerman (Arkansas), who has served on the committee since joining Congress a decade ago.
