Ponca Enterprise Gaming Board supports tribal elders

The Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma established Ponca Enterprise Gaming, LLC and from there the Fancy Dance Casino was established and opened for operation in September 2020.
The casino is located off Interstate 35, just north of Perry, Oklahoma. The Ponca tribe was very active in Indian gambling in the 1980s and was one of the first tribes in the state of Oklahoma to offer high stakes bingo. As bingo eventually became an obsolete form of Indian gambling, the Ponca Tribe was without casino operations for several years prior to the development of the Fancy Dance Casino. One of the basic principles of the Indian Gambling Regulation Act (IGRA), enacted by Congress in 1988, is to promote economic development, tribal self-reliance and strong tribal government.
Through their gaming operations, one of their top priorities is for the tribe to have an economic impact and set priorities related to self-sufficiency, such as assisting their most vulnerable members. In keeping with its own cultural affinity for supporting and caring for the elderly, the Board of Directors saw fit to provide money to the tribe which, in turn, would be used for assistance to tribal members age 55 and over.
Many of their elders face complex problems, many have no disposable income, and many care for and even raise their grandchildren.
With record inflation and prices seen within the economy, it is imperative that tribes use the mechanisms provided to help their people…
