With a new year, always comes new hope, but who is likely to be among the people to watch in 2023? Here are ours to watch in arts and entertainment.
Hamish McDonald
Inverness-based writer and poet Hamish MacDonald will travel to Rio de Janeiro in 2023 for the World Slam Poetry final in September.
Hamish has always performed poetry as well as writing plays for the Dogstar Theater Company, he was a Scots Scriever (writing in Scots) based at the National Library of Scotland and his own books include his poetry collection Wilson’s Ornithology & Burds in Scots.
Hamish has also become Scottish Poetry Slam Champion and runner-up at the Poesie Coupe du Monde et Slam Final (World Cup for Poetry and Poetry Slam Final) in Paris.
In October, Hamish heard that he had qualified for the European Poetry Slam final in Rome in December, and will now represent Europe with others at the Poetry Slam World Final in Rio in September 2023.
And Hamish reveals that Loud Poets will be bringing slam to Inverness in May, where slam hopefuls can compete for prize money.
