BIA adjusts electricity rates for the San Carlos irrigation project in Arizona
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) on Friday announced final increases in electric power rates for the San Carlos Irrigation Project-Energy Division for the first time in over 16 years. The final electric rate increases have been published in the Federal Register and will take effect on January 18, 2023.
“While the BIA does everything possible to avoid increasing costs to consumers, increases in electric power rates are necessary to bring the cost of operations up to current standards, which has not been done in more age 16,” said Darryl LaCounte, BIA Office Director. . “These increases in electric power rates now reflect the current cost of operating and supplying power, provide proper maintenance, and ensure that BIA can continue to provide safe and reliable services into the future.”
