‘I’m snow excited’: Chinook Blast’s full festival lineup revealed

Chinook Blast is back, and with little hyperbole involved, bigger and better than ever.
Calgary’s winter months festival of all things arts, culture and sports is in full swing for 2023.
For visitors heading to the center from late January through February, organizers have promised that this is the year the Chinook Blast will be as originally intended when envisioned in 2019 before the pandemic.
“I am very excited to be back this year,” Mayor Jyoti Gondek said.
“I am very excited that Calgarians will be able to enjoy the full Chinook Blast experience this year. It’s been down in the last two years, but we’re in full force.”
More than 200 events will take place in the Downtown Core and East Village, from 60 different Chinook Blast partners. Among them are Calgary mainstays like One Yellow Rabbit with High Performance Rodeo, Calgary Folk Music Festival with Block Heater and Arts Commons and Sport Calgary for its sports and entertainment takeover of Olympic Plaza.
Returning festivals and events in their entirety include the Ethnik Festival and its celebration of the best in black and African-Canadian culture, The Great Canadian Kilt Skate celebrating Scottish culture, The Exposure Festival of photography, art and light installations throughout downtown, and dozens of events at the Calgary Public Library and Fort Calgary.
