HBO’s ‘Velma’ Series Slammed by Fans After Season Premiere

Despite the high hopes placed on Velmalooks like him Scooby Doo spin-off flopped with fans.

Kaling, who also serves as the show’s executive producer, previously expressed his excitement for the series and his new vision for her character, Velma, as an Indian.

“We knew it would be fun for me to play Velma, but we had a conversation where Velma is white, and we have this new option to do the show and if I’m voicing her, should she be white or not?” I have never the creator told reporters earlier this fall, adding: “Velma’s essence isn’t necessarily tied to her whiteness. And I identify a lot with her character, and I think a lot of people do, so it’s like, yeah , let’s make her Indian in these series.”
