First-ever Popover Battle & Ironman Pow Wow Competition

This weekend, the Native Music Coalition is hosting its first ever Popover Battle and Ironman Pow Wow competition. The free event will take place from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, January 14 at Cholla High Magnet School, located at 2001 W. Starr Pass Blvd.

10 competitors will set out to win the grand prize of $3,000! The only requirement in this battle is that the contestants must be a member of a recognized tribe and must have an active food handlers card. Other than that, the competitors are free to create their best fried bread dish with the topping of their choice.
Second and third place runners-up will also have a chance to win some money.

The generous prizes are made possible by the Native Music Coalition (NMC) and the Desert Diamond Casino who donated $1,000 towards the overall prize of $6,000. The NMC wants the award money to have an impact on native-owned businesses in southern Arizona with the idea of developing capital and continuing their journey in entrepreneurship.
