Showbiz has paid tribute to Brazilian soccer player Pelé following the news of his death today (December 29), at the age of 82.
The death of the soccer star, often called the greatest player that ever lived, was confirmed by the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in São Paulo in a statement. He said the athlete had died “due to multiple organ failure, as a result of colon cancer progression associated with his previous clinical condition,” according to sky news.
Pelé’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, also posted a photo on instagram of what appeared to be the hands of Pelé’s family on his body. “Everything we are is thanks to you,” Nascimento wrote in the caption of the photo. “We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”
A message shared on the star’s official social media accounts read: “Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pelé, who passed away peacefully today.
