‘Bear Grease’ hopes to make it to Broadway

Kinsale Drake, Diné, is a poet, playwright, and performer based in the Southwest. The Yale University alumni has had her work appear in Teen Vogue and Time Magazine. She was mostly recently announced as the 2022 Joy Harjo Poetry prize winner.
The musical “Bear Grease” is taking audiences by storm. The show is an Indigenous rendition of “Grease” that just finished its second tour at the end of 2022, with plans to go on to Broadway. Award-winning actress Crystle Lightning, Maskekosak Cree, is the actress and co-creative of the project.
Many tribes are turning to technology to teach and retain their languages. The Citizen Potawatomi Nation recently partnered with Google and the new app called Woolaroo. Justin Neely, Citizen Potawatomi Nation, joins us to share more about the initiative. He’s the director of language for his tribal nation.
