BEMIDJI — In a historic and significant step, the flags of the Leech Lake, Red Lake and White Earth Nations now stand proudly in the lobby of Bemidji City Hall.
With a ceremony held Monday night to commemorate the display of flags, representatives from each nation gathered together with city officials and community members to celebrate the monumental occasion.
“Today we are excited to celebrate a significant moment in our city’s history by raising the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Red Lake Nation and White Earth Nation flags at our City Hall for the first time,” said Mayor Jorge Príncipe.
