The New Jersey Symphony will present a Lunar New Year program on Saturday, January 21 at the New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts in Newark.njsymphony.org
♦ The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has a couple of Chinese New Year celebrations planned this weekend.
He Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will welcome the arrival of spring 2023, the Year of the Black Water Rabbit, with a program that combines “traditional Chinese dance with a modern twist”. (Imagine the Red Lions dancing to a hip hop beat.) Performances will be at 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday, January 21 and 22, at the Victoria Theater downtown. Tickets are $27-$35. He New Jersey Symphony will present their 2023 Lunar New Year concert at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 21 at downtown’s Prudential Hall. The program, led by NJS Music Director Xian Zhang and guest conductor Tong Chen, will feature violinist Nancy Zhou, pianists Chelsea Guo and Min Kwon, Peking University Alumni Choir, Peking University Children’s Choir Star Arts and the Edison Chinese School Lion Dance Team.
