Albuquerque gets the year 2023 cold with Al’burrr’querque Polar Bear Plunge.
From 10:30-11:30 a.m., brave participants are invited to hop into the Sierra Vista Pool, 5001 Montaño Road NW, on Saturday, January 7. Depending on the weather, the pool temperature should be a quick 40-45 degrees.
Take the lead for $40 or go down the slide for $50. Proceeds will go to helping polar bears, penguins, and people swim.
Learn about clay
The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture invites visitors to view the “Evolutions in Clay” pop-up exhibition and then follow a special presentation.
From 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, potters Ray Garcia (San Felipe) and Ricardo Ortiz (San Felipe) will be at the museum for an afternoon of storytelling and art making.
Admission to the museum and demonstration is free for New Mexico residents on January 8.
Metal at Tumbleroot
The Colorado-based band Velnias is coming to Tumbleroot Brewery and Distillery on Saturday, January 7th.
New Mexico bands TKTWA, Distances, and Dead Pattern will also perform.
